TRAINING CAMPS
It is great to see all these guys focussed and training hard. I think Tenerife is a tough place to train for me personally. I don’t know how they stay for two to three months there. The place is amazing but doing slalom everyday there I feel you can burn out! Also that training can take a toll on your boards and sails. If you sail too much with the equipment it is going to be destroyed before the season. I went to Tarifa and I think that was a really great place. You can drive there which is a major advantage. That means you can bring all you want. It was not too far for me from France. There is a lot of variety there for slalom conditions. There is the Mediterranean and Atlantic sides and every strength of wind. There was a strong team there, Ben Van Der Steen, Finian Maynard, Ludo Jossin and myself. There were plenty of guys. There was another camp in Lanzarote but for me Tarifa was the place I prefer. To bring all your fins, all your boards, sails, masts and a bike on the plane is too much. Tarifa is amazing for biking also, on the road and in the mountains. Next year I will go there longer…if I am still on tour! I need to renew my contract.
