Are you happy with your level of sailing right now and what areas are you working on to refine and improve?
Honestly, no. I’m very fortunate to be able to sail with Philip Koester most days in the summer. It’s great to motivate you a bit, but highlights how many things I need to learn to be competitive at the top level.
Certainly on port-tack onshore, the level is astronomical at the moment. The kids at Pozo are now landing everything, all the time, so I have lots of work to do really. If it’s starboard tack ever, I’m quietly confident, but on port tack it’s hard.
My main aim is to refine my doubles better. I can spin around twice and land in the water, but that is a long way off sticking them ankle dry. That is the difference between 7-8 points and 10-11, and that makes all the difference in a heat.
Hopefully, if we get some good conditions in the early part of the summer, I can be ready for the Canaries events and lets
see what happens. With a bit of luck the wind swings around 180 degrees!
