Congratulations on being a dad! How does it feel?
Thanks. It’s amazing actually. For sure you know as a parent already, but each day really is special and little Lily seems to always be learning something new. Thankfully she is really well behaved so far. She sleeps and eats well and hardly cries really, so I think we are very lucky.
And how is [your pro sailor wife] Nayra enjoying being a mum?
I think this was the most surprising thing for me, how naturally Nayra turned into a super mum! She will kill me for saying this, but a week before Lily was born we passed a pet shop and saw a cute little puppy in the window.
Nayra was pretty over being 9 months pregnant and said “why didn’t we just get a puppy”. 1 week later when we got Lily home for the first time, she was watching Lily sleeping and just burst into tears saying “she is so much better than a puppy”.
For sure that was all the hormones, but really Nayra has been amazing since day one. A totally natural transformation. I think when you have a kid you realise how amazing Mother Nature really is!
