STORM FRANK – HAYLING ISLAND

The next morning I knew it was on, the swell was up on the channel buoy, the wind was a bit light but was forecast to come back up at lunch time coinciding with the perfect point of the tide. Carter the spineless weasel had refrained so far from telling his wife so snuck off to ask, he came back wounded but alive with an amber/green light as long as I could get him on the 15:15 ferry back to the rock. It was tipping it down and there was no wind when I picked JC up; I was feeling the pressure as I’d been told he would blame me if this plan went wrong. Very weirdly for JC the clouds parted and the wind built, we had a call from Audsley as we went over the bridge telling us it looked on! We drove past the site for the NWF where there was a great view down the beach, with the swell wrapping round the inner sand bar, sails flying in and out and the sun blazing. I rigged my 4.7 Blade and plugged in the little 77 litre Fanatic stubby, I ended up changing to the 88 pretty quickly and that was great for an hour, then the wind picked up and I ended up being super over powered but it was so fun I just hung on.
