MONTY SPINDLER TIMELINE

1976     Makes his first Windsurfing sail after working with Ulmer, Haar stick and Hood Sails in Annapolis.
1980     Makes sails for Robby Naish and Pete Cabrinha (Horizon/Gaastra) in California.
1982     Works alongside windsurfing co-inventor Newman S. Darby.
1983     Makes pin-head sails for Olympic medalist Ken Winner on Rhode Island.
1984     Hired to work alongside Blaauw and Spanier at NeilPryde Hong Kong.
Works with Waltze and Schweitzer on ‘Ultranova’ first fully-battened wave sail.
Works on wing-mast sails for Arnaud de Rosnay, Pryde RAF lines and designs winning sails for Tiga, Sailboard, HiFly, Alpha and more.
1985     Lake Garda: Develops cutaway prototypes tested by Cesare Cantagalli for North. DeVries buys North and launches A.R.T. who scoop the market with cutaway leech.
1987     Monty wins Weymouth Speed Week Johnny Walker Trophy on RADWing.
Early 90’s     Maka and Bielak dominate speed sailing with 3 consecutive speed records on A.R.T. sails.
Late 90’s     Moves to Tarifa and founds Loftsails.
2000’s     Countless racers launch their careers on Loftsails, positive reviews about Spindler designs and world titles are won.
2014     Speed Blade wins Luderitz Speed Challenge 51.63 knots.
